Welcome to Joosen! We are Joy and Silja, two women who love to travel. At the age of 23, Joy already had the dream of becoming self-employed and started selling accessories. In 2017, our paths led us to Ghana, and after her second visit there, Joy had the idea to sell products from Ghana, particularly shea butter, also due to the aspect of sustainability. She began intensive research and inspired Silja with this idea, who eventually joined the venture.
Joosen: Our Journey with Ghanaian Craftsmanship
The country, its culture, and the people captivated us. The openness and action-packed atmosphere on one side, there is always something happening, the people are positive about life. On the other side, the tranquility, contentment, and gratitude. Amidst the hectic, sometimes very loud daily life, one finds peace and can slow down. Peace and acceptance are lived there. These and many other reasons are why we have been returning several times a year since then. Ghana has now become a second home.
With the desire for self-employment and simultaneously the goal of having a positive impact on the economy in Ghana, we began intensive research. Joy spent 2.5 years researching various raw materials and crafts. We traveled to the north, visited various villages, families, and manufactories. It was an intensive time with many positive and new experiences, but also some setbacks.
Now we are ready to realize our vision: true to the motto "Joosen for you," we carefully and personally select the best products from Ghana for you and bring them to Switzerland. All our products are handmade and carry a long-standing tradition. With selected styles, we aim to create a connection between Ghana and Switzerland and share with you the beauty and benefits of this craftsmanship.
We are committed to making our business as environmentally friendly as possible, whether through eco-friendly transport options or sustainable packaging materials. We are always open to new insights and process optimizations to continuously reduce our ecological footprint.
Fairness is very important to us, not only towards our environment but also towards the people involved in the production of our products. We value fair working conditions and fair wages for our team and our partners throughout the supply chain. By collaborating with talented people on-site in Ghana, we actively contribute to the economic development of this region.
At Joosen, we set the price of our products according to their true value and appreciate the craftsmanship and dedication that goes into each product. Since we place great importance on continuously expanding our product range, we are very grateful for any suggestions or questions from you.
